Having someone tell you to your face that you’re “unreliable” is a strange experience, especially when it comes from a person with more control in a power dynamic. It’s downright offensive if that unreliability is actually just extreme burnout, rendering you physically, emotionally, and/or mentally incapable of the reliability you wish you could maintain. Sometimes it freezes me in place, letting the weeds of doubt creep over me. I have to tear through these weeds to free myself and remind myself that ultimately, the only one who gets to accuse me of not working hard enough is me.
